Hello! Hi from brisbane :) am here for my bestfriends grad, shes graduating on the 8th. but til that happy day, its more happy days of shopping and fun! We're heading up to gold coast tomorrow :D too lazy to upload the photos from my cam so heres one from facebook of us having korean.

It doesnt really look like it here, but we look quite alike in person after all the years of bestfriendship. just that shes white and im black. haha

Just got back from home cooked spaghetti at her friends place. that was yummy. we made peach custard tarts to bring over which were yummy too. and i was wrong, her cat is so cute in person. or in catson, whatever. show you all a nice picture of him soon!

Spaghetti

I wish i wasnt so in love with food.

As im typing this now im staring at my empty bowl of spaghetti and i feel like going outside to get more. but i cant cos my parents havent eaten. i suppose these kind of problems are the good sort.

Yesterday i met jared after his work and headed to town. but before that, i had to change. amagawd, i cannot fit into my skirt anymore. i put on 2kg during the exams and grew a size :((((((((( my mom saw me and went "why is your skirt so short!?!"

...it wasnt that it was shorter, it was just that i had to wear it higher. :( in the end i had to go change into something else.

This is what exams do to you.

Anyway, the spaghetti is calling out to me. im going to see how to work around my problem.

Hellooooo freedom

Hello:)

Sorry for the hiatus. I have returned to update cos exams finished yesterday :)

To celebrate the end of exams i went for a nice long 8kish run. i know it sounds a bit warped to celebrate like that but the over sitting in the library made me feel like a blob that was slowly melting into my butt.

I dont even think that description made sense. but anyway, it sort of felt like that.

Ran with ze and ash and discovered a very nice route to jog through. its the route where you run along the singapore river and pass the flyer. the river is really pretty and you get to see all the lights!! prof winston koh ran past us but we didnt say hi cos we werent entirely sure it was him.. and even if it was, it would be slightly awkward to say hi. hes really fit though. i always see him in the gym/at tris/running.

Other than the run, i have totally and absolutely been indulging in the feeling of post exams.

Stayed over at a friend's, watched a movie, came home in the morning and just spent 3 and a half hours shopping online and putting alot of new items into my shopping bag :))) after spending all that time shopping online, i spent another hour + flipping through my december issue of herworld which made me see even more things i like and want to physically go shopping. there are so so many pretty things floating around during christmas!!!! I shall not let consumerism overwhelm me i shall not let consumerism overwhelm me. bad bad bad. stop stop stop. I shall go to town.. and just look at lights.

I love everything about them except the fact that they are absolutely unaffordable. sigh. why do all the prettiest things have to be so expensive. stupid branding :( if christian louboutin ever wanted a sal happy... i would price it at $1000. with no extra chicken. let him know how it feels.

Hah okay. anyway. I will be flying off to brisbane for the bestfriend's graduation. flying off on sunday. will take alot of pictures and show you her scary cat:)

Hes pretty cute here though.

In the meantime... i realized i still have alot of things to settle here in the 5 weeks of holidays. and i need to research more on how to get a food license :\ oh yes, the screme results for shortlisted candidates arent out yet! help me cross your fingers!

Kay then, off to do a little packing and meet jared for dinner. update again soon!

Christmas is coming!!!

Yesterday i intentionally took the long route home and drove through town. The lights are so pretty. Ion has a very big tree too. And mariah carey's All i want for Christmas is being overplayed again. Ah, christmas:)

But anyway, back to reality, we are all in the seminar room, cold and shivering. Fighting the cold to stay in here and study. The library is too crowded for us to stay there.

The room is in quite an interesting state.

Ze's notes are sprawled all over the tables cos she spilled water over them. Eugene has his name tent up, i dont know why. Joce is online shopping blogging and studying simultaneously (girls can multitask), Kiat and Jo are discussing tax very loudly and ash is outside cos the room is -20 degrees.

Oh, ash is back. He looks slightly warmer now.

Okay, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh study. back to work.

Sal Happy in week 13?

Hi guys

Sorry for the lack of updates! Things have just been crrraaaaaaazy. As im typing this im sitting at pick and bite waiting for you guys, complete with puffy eyebags cos I fell asleep after putting the salads in the fridge and woke up in a shock at 1045!!

Nevermind, after thursday i will be done with all my presentations. Then one more report, and 2 more exams. Breathe in, breathe out. It will be over SOON hope you guys are all coping well!!!

Last night was fun:) had a volleyball session with the usual bunch. We were actually planning on running to Al Amein from CCAb and then having supper there, but that didnt work out. So we joined a group of pro volleyballers already playing at the court.

Ive discovered a trick. In order to look like youre good at volleyball, simply stand around and act involved. You just wait. Only when there is no other choice but for you to take the ball, you defend yourself and smack it out of the way. Usually up is good. After thats done, some other volleyball pro will smash it over the net. Then everyone will cheer for the pro, and you!!! I got alot of "wahhh joce"s and "nice one joce!"'s by association. Hahahah once again MKTG102 comes to life.

Oh oh yes, I've been meaning to mention this here. Is there anyone who reads this blog and plays golf?:) Cos yims, yan fen jo and i did an event 2 weekends ago for www.golfgreedy.com, my sisters boyfriends new start up company for golfers! It's a really cool site where you can bid for tee times and play golf at clubs even though youre not a member. If you're a golfer, or your parents are, they should check it out! :)

Haha im like advertising. But I really do think its quite an innovative idea!

I've got my dad's 60th birthday celebration to update about toooo. Cos it was his 60th, we tried to make it all grand and it turned out like a wedding dinner. It was a fun and happy event haha will update about that soon:)

Til then, everybody hang in there for 2 and a half more weeks!!! Christmas comes after!

Halloween with Axl Rose

Saturday night was halloween! Quite an impromtu halloween I must add:D

Jo, yf, yims and i were doing an event for my sisters boyfriend over the weekend, which meant we had no time to prepare our costumes on saturday! Thankfully, yan fen brought her spare bunny ears and a gray dress from home. Not wanting to waste our limited resources, jo and yf bought a cape, moustache and magic wand for me and made me a magician! I have the vest cos jo had it in her bag and the shirt cos topshop had a sale at raffles city and i bought it for jared. then, oh! i need a shirt, okay lets wear this!

Ash was a confused santa with a moustache. Since we were impromtu, we shared. Jo shared her santa hat and pants, I shared my extra moustache, and then we stole some spiderwebs for his shedding beard.

I was walking back from raffles city and entering school of business. Suddenly, i heard a "JOCE!". So i turn around, but i dont see anyone. just 2 dirty/hairy/scary looking guys, or um, passably 2 dirty/hairy/scary girls.

Hahahah ahh fir was wearing extremely tight and short denim shorts. It was quite disturbing but suuuperrr funnyyyy we couldnt stop laughing at him. He wore his sunnies the whole night so as to not be found out. But everyone knew it was him anyway.

Oh, he's supposed to be Axl Rose, lead singer of guns and roses. Shaun is supposed to be.... bon jovi?

Debs and JP came up behind them looking more recognizable but ridiculously funny as well. I dont know who JP was supposed to be. According to jo he said he was avril lavigne, but he told jo that when he was drunk and throwing peanuts into the beer pong. so we dont know how accurate his description was. Hahaha. Debs was macy gray!

We crashed the SMU alumni party which turned out to be quite fun. Ended up staying for quite a bit and won beer pong!!! Hehe, we beat robin hood, flash and old people to win a crate of beer, in spite of their sheer concentration.

Anyway, that beer crate was only really there because I made it so. It was magic.

Poor jo, here her beard looks like its suffering from a case of acute shedding Oh yes, Fir was a finalist for the best dressed. No surprise there, with those tight denims!

The rest went to party after that while some of us went home to sleep. Dont know what went on, but the pictures looked like fun! This is them at clarke quay then partying at zouk :) Darn, shouldve gone.

1 more day to the end of Week 11

Half an hour ago I was freaking out that I was still at newton having supper while I have an incomplete assignment due tomorrow. Now that I'm home, Im blogging. I think that in 10 minutes I will realize that I should not be here and re-freak out again. Hahaha but for now, a quick update!

Just finished a run with yims and the long d-ers around the botanics. A few others joined us for supper at newton where we discussed our halloween plans :D

2 oh-shit moments happened in the course of 2 days.

#1:

My dad called me while I was at supper and asked me to buy back dessert. I only remembered that I hadn't bought it when I reached my front gate. My reaction...

@#*@!*#!@#)!!!!

Translated to "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, shit."

So, in my stressed out state that it was 1130 and I had an assignment waiting for me, I drove back to newton.

Initially I told my dad that I forgot and he looked so sad:( I offered to make him a drink, but he said no and looked sad. Then i offered him ice cream, but he said no and looked sad. Then i gave him a hug and said sorry, and he didnt acknowledge it!! What is a daughter to do!?

That sad face was very guilt inducing. I drove back to newton and got him his dessert. Hahahah at least his happy face after was worth it.

#2:

Firstly, I have been very bad in judging the quantity of groceries to buy for this week. I have gone supermarketing on monday, tuesday AND wednesday i.e. yesterday.

Yesterday, I got home and wanted to rush to get groceries. But there were no cars at home! I got a little frantic cos the supermarket was closing in half an hour. So when my dad finally came home, I swapped places with him and drove off.

Drove up the carpark, reversed, parked.

Turned off the engine.

Looked for the key.

...

No key!!??!?!!?!?!!?

Yup. No key. I drove off with the key in my dads pocket. Sigh. Stupid keyless system. Its a card that sends a signal to the car and allows you to start the engine. Without the card, you can continue driving, but once you turn off the engine you cant turn it back on. Neither can you lock the stupid car!!!

So with half an hour to closing time, an car that wouldnt lock, and no one picking up their phones at home (!!!) I just left the car and crossed my fingers no one would realize it wasnt locked!

In the end my brother was very nice and took a cab down to pass me the keys. Sigh, it's tough being a Joce. I dont udnerstand why I keep doing these things to myself!!!

Oh no, okay anyway, my 10 minutes are up. I shall stop here. I predict a long night tonight. As of now, I have 5 and a half hours of sleep credit. Sleep now and get 5 and a half. I think.... I can hope for 3 tonight :(

Week 11 blues

Oh no, week 11 is starting to stress me out.

And, in my attempt to show Tim my old secondary school website, I REALIZED THAT YAHOO GEOCITIES HAS SHUT DOWN! That's a very sad discovery for me because I was 15 when I built that site and it has a lot of painstakingly scanned in neoprints of good times.

Neoprints were very cool then. I just lost a part of my cool past.

Anyway, I was eating a take away dinner last night and realized that a small plastic spoon isnt very efficient for eating. Does it bother you guys? If it does, I'll change my small spoons and forks to big ones! I like the way the small ones look though, they're kinda cute.

Ok ok, back to work. Assignments projects reports and textbooks(!!!), here i (sigh) come.

A typical day in the life of Joce

Just did a typically "Oh, shit" moment again.

I drove to school and took a bus home.

Hahahahaha.

Went for a run with my dad, mom and brother at the botanics. After our nice walk/run my dad reaches home and says "how come the other car isn't back yet?"

IVP 2009

I have an intercultural comms exam worth 40% in 10 hours. I'm quite worried. BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO PREPARE FOR IT!

Sigh sigh sigh its more of an case study type of exam that requires insights more than textbook knowledge. Hope I have lots of brain juice tomorrow. Shall do those finger twirling exercises I learnt from my primary school "Creativity" class. Apparently moving your fingers in circles helps boost your brain capacity. (???) The things parents buy into to help their kids excel huh? Maybe by the time I have kids we'll be sending them for brain transplants. Raffles brains- on sale now!!

K anyway I'm digressing and wasting time!!! Study study study!!! In 5 minutes. Going to blog about IVP first haha.

Ok.

So,

IVP was on Sunday and I'm very glad it's over despite only competing in one event. It's the expectation of the omg-I-am-dying-please-deliver-me-from-evil-now feeling when youre completing your last 100m of the 400. The sad part is there's no more trainings so no more cheng tngs and funny tuesday/thursday nights :(

Actually... um, ya, basically everything.

Thanks to our many dedicated photographers (Thanks jerald, wayne, eug!) we got lots of nice photos in progression. This one is of Jo in her 4 by 4

And off she went.

The relays were especially fun to watch because the teams this year comprised of track gods. 4 by 4 men had Fir, Subaiash, Teck Wee and Praayank. Men with legs that come with turbo mode.

And of course, we have our heroes who show amazing fighting spirit despite the odds

Take Teng Chuan for example. Newly joined tracker, but always giving it his all. He ran 400 hurdles but tripped on his last hurdle. Despite the bad fall he got up and kept going!! All the wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

It certainly was a long day. But it was an experience I'll never forget. I'm really glad I decided to join track. For the trackers reading this, I love you all truly and deeply! <3

Okay then, its 11pm now. Think I shall start making my way home and read my notes on the bus. Oh, I know I owe you all an update about the "Get Fit" programme that track is organizing but we haven't gone into further discussions yet! Its the post break madness. Promise once we do I'll let you all know though.

In the meantime, study hard and stay focused for the last 4 weeks of school!! Hope you all are managing ok with the projects and exam preps. It will be over before we know it.
